Nearly two hundred people recently attended a special reception to honor Ameel Rashid, M.D. Dr. Rashid was honored for his years of service, caring, vision, leadership and generosity.
The Proctor Health Care Foundation hosted the reception on Thursday, October 12, 2000 at the Country Club of Peoria.
People came from throughout Illinois and beyond to join Dr. Rashid and the Rashid family in celebrating this most significant event.
The highlight of the evening was the announcement that the Board of Trustees of Proctor Hospital and The Proctor Health Care Foundation have named Proctor’s nationally recognized Addiction Recovery Center the AMEEL RASHID CENTER FOR ADDICTION RECOVERY, effective immediately.
Dr. Rashid remarked that, since beginning to work in the field of addiction medicine, he has seen great strides and accomplishments made in the Proctor program.
Dr. Rashid has been co-medical director of the center since its inception in 1979 and assisted with the development of the Young Adult Unit in 1987, the Gambling and Spending Addiction Treatment Programs in 1993 and the Food, Sex and Internet Addiction Treatment Programs in 1996. The center is considered the leading multiple addiction treatment facility in the United States.
Dr. Rashid has been a long-time member of the Board of Trustees of Proctor Hospital and donor to The Proctor Health Care Foundation.
