Activities and Exercise: Improving Your Mind, Body & Spirit
Moderate exercise is an excellent tool in our effort to treat addiction. Our manageable physical therapies promote overall health, increase energy & metabolism, and even enhance self-esteem. In particular, exercise is a wonderful natural stress-reliever!
At The Abbey, we provide numerous exercise opportunities, including our Athletic Center (with cardio and weight-training equipment), dance floor (for aerobics and other classes), expansive grounds, and outdoor swimming pool.
Some of the classes we teach include Yoga, Stretching, and Breathing / Relaxation exercises.
In addition, we take clients off-site for numerous recreational outings, such as nature hikes, bowling outings, golfing, and the like. We are fortunate to have literally hundreds of miles of Mississippi River-front promenades and local bike paths along our neighboring Duck Creek.
We also provide clients with numerous opportunities for entertainment and cultural experiences to help them learn to have “sober fun,” without the need to involve substance use/abuse. These experiences include game nights, movie nights, and outings to museums, theatrical performances, among other activities.
